Head of the Department for Development Project Management, International Cooperation and Communications of CE "MWMC" KCC Ivanna Nazarenko presented to representatives of JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) the achievements of the Kharkiv City Territorial Community in the field of sorting and processing demolition waste located at the Municipal Solid Waste Processing Complex.

The event was held with the participation of representatives of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine within the framework of the project “Waste Management KOSA and Ukraine,” implemented with the support of the Government of Japan.
Key topics of the meeting included summarizing the results of the pilot project on demolition waste management, as well as preparation for the next phase of cooperation planned for 2027–2029.

Special attention was given to the issue of handling asbestos-containing materials. Currently, Ukraine applies various protocols developed by international organizations; however, a unified approach is still lacking. Another challenge is the shortage of specialized laboratories for rapid analysis of hazardous materials, which results in some studies still being conducted abroad.
